Overview #
Files is Armano’s built-in file storage and collaboration space. It works similar to Google Drive: you can create folders, upload files, share with coworkers, control permissions, and collaborate on office documents. It also includes an AI assistant (similar to OneDrive Copilot) to summarize a file or answer questions about its content.
1) Where to find Files #
From the left sidebar, open Files. Inside Files you typically have:
- My Drive: your main workspace (you own the content here unless you share it)
- Shared With Me: items others shared with you
- E-Sign: documents related to e-signature
- Trash: deleted items
2) Files screen layout (what you see) #
The main page shows a list/table of items with columns like:
- Name
- Size
- Owner
- Modified
- Sharing (e.g., Private / Shared)
You can:
- Select items using checkboxes
- Sort (example shown: Name sort)
- Use the ⋮ menu on each row for actions
- Toggle a denser list view (if enabled)
3) Create folders and files (New menu) #
Click + New to create or upload content:
- Add folder
- Upload file
- Create new:
- Word Document
- Excel Document
- PowerPoint Document
- Text Document
4) Common file actions (row menu) #
From the item ⋮ menu, you can typically do:
- Rename
- Share
- Info
- Move
- Copy
- Delete
These actions apply to both files and folders (some options may vary by type and permission).
5) File details (Info panel) #
Opening Info shows a side panel with:
- Properties (Size, Modified, Type)
- File Shared With (who has access and what permission)
- Activities (audit trail / file events, if enabled)
This is the best place to confirm:
- Who can access the file
- Whether access is Viewer vs Modifier
- Recent activity
6) Sharing files with employees (permissions) #
6.1 Share a file/folder #
- Open the ⋮ menu next to the item
- Select Share
- Choose employees from Share with
- Set the permission type
- Save/close
6.2 Permission types (as shown in your UI) #
- Viewer: can view (and typically download) the file
- Modifier: can edit (and collaborate if supported for that file type)
- Deny: removes access / blocks access
You can also adjust permissions for people who are Already shared with.
6.3 Secure sharing options (Password + Expiration) #
If enabled in your environment, the Share dialog/settings can include:
- Password protection for shared access
- Expiration date (access automatically expires)
7) Editing and collaboration (Office files) #
Armano Files supports viewing and editing office documents (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) directly in the browser. With the right permission (Modifier), multiple employees can collaborate on the same document.
Typical collaboration expectations to document:
- Edits are saved back to the file in Files
- Permissions control who can edit vs view
- If a user only has Viewer access, editing controls are disabled
8) AI assistant for files (Copilot-style) #
Files includes an AI assistant that can:
- Summarize a document
- Answer questions about the file (Q&A)
- Help users quickly find relevant details inside long documents
